Measuring equipment that can measure sound and reverberation

The first Trade Fair for Noise Control and Sound Design has come to a successful end. 1,468 experts visited acoustex at the Dortmund Exhibition Centre on 10 and 11 October. Both the ambience and the high-quality content were convincing. Sabine Loos, CEO of Westfalenhallen Dortmund GmbH, emphasised: “As a trade fair location, we cover the future-oriented topics of the acoustex trade fair in a targeted way because noise reduction and sound design are becoming increasingly important for everyday life and the economy.   acoustex has already proven at its premiere that it is THE meeting place for decision-makers and has satisfied the exhibitors.”

The trade fair attracted interesting target groups to the stands and forums. 82 per cent of the visitors are involved in purchasing and procurement decisions in an advisory or decision-making capacity according to the result of the visitor survey conducted by an independent trade fair market research institute.  The exhibitors were therefore satisfied (see also the ‘Exhibitor Testimonials’ below).

Almost 60 per cent of the visitors are entrepreneurs, managing directors, and divisional or departmental heads. Major industries represented at the trade fair include production, research and development, architecture, specialist planning, engineering and technical consultancies.

Remarkable is that about 80 per cent of the trade visitors have already stated in the premiere year that acoustex has nothing that needs improvement. 87 per cent were satisfied with the 2018 trade fair and gave a ‘good’ rating. The comprehensive accompanying programme and the ambience at the trade fair were also rated as ‘good’.

Focus on a professional exchange of information
Three large expert forums with contributions from about 40 renowned speakers ensured a continuous professional exchange of information in the exhibition hall. In line with the overall concept of the trade fair, the forums were divided into three topics: Architecture, Traffic and Industry. The speaker and industry expert, Dr. Patrick Kurtz, Acoustic Consultant, praised the concept of acoustex: “The industry was previously lacking feedback from the users of soundproofing solutions to manufacturers. That finally takes place at this trade fair.”

The acoustex trade fair was actually used as an effective networking and information platform. One of the most important objectives of the trade visitors during their visit to the trade fair was the exchange of experience and information and market orientation. 47 per cent of the trade visitors visit no other trade fair with a comparable topic range so that the exhibitors at acoustex got a large number of exclusive contacts.  The trade visitors were extremely interested in building acoustics, room acoustics, interior and industrial materials.

Large catchment area
Some visitors travelled far to benefit from the expert input at acoustex. 27 per cent travelled between 100 and 300 kilometres and 41 per cent even travelled more than 300 kilometres.

12 per cent of the visitors came from abroad. Visitors from a dozen countries were guests at acoustex. These countries included Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Italy, Greece, Italy, Liechtenstein, The Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Turkey and the Czech Republic.

The German visitors came from North-Rhine Westphalia, Baden-Wurttemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia.

The German Association of Noise Protection on Traffic Routes (Deutscher Verband für Lärmschutz an Verkehrswegen – DVLV) held its latest association members’ meeting at acoustex. “That has been the best-visited association members’ meeting to date,” said Hans-Jürgen Johannink, DVLV Secretary, with delight. “Our members are very satisfied with the general conditions.”
The “materialACOUSTICS – selected and presented by raumPROBE” special show supplemented the exhibitors’ and expert forum offer. It gave an up-to-date overview of acoustic and soundproofing materials by showcasing selected exhibits in the form of real samples. About 200 exhibits from the room acoustics and building acoustics segments were showcased. Joachim Stumpp, Managing Director of raumPROBE OHG, was responsible for the special show. He said: “Our special show managed to convey inspirations about the variety of materials. Many ‘acousticians’ usually only know their standard materials.”

On the day before the trade fair, i.e. on 9 October, experts were offered an informative field trip within the scope of ‘acoustex’. The ‘Room acoustics at selected locations’ excursion included visits to the following places: The DASA Working World Exhibition in Dortmund (Acoustic Design of Classrooms – a Visit to a Sample Room), the Noise Laboratory at the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA)  and the L'Oréal office building in Dusseldorf (Acoustics in Open Spaces).

The acoustex trade fair will take place for the second time in 2019, on 1 and 2 October.

Detailed information on the acoustex premiere is available at www.acoustex.de. acoustex can also be found on XING, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Exhibitor Testimonials

Marius Bradler, Marketing Manager at L'ISOLANTE K-FLEX:
“We had talks with customers during the entire trade fair. Each of these contacts is an asset. We see potential sales with exceptionally large quantities. It was all about large-quantity sales – there are only a few small-quantity customers. We had fewer ‘cases’ than here at another trade fair with a 140 sqm stand.”

Ronny Schröder, Associate Sales Director of Technical & Comfort Products at Sandler:
“We came to the trade fair with high expectations and they were fulfilled. This trade fair is an efficient meeting place of the industry – good, lively and modern. The demand is definitely there, the interest in acoustex topics is increasing. This is a good place for networking and making personal contacts. They are simply still very important.”

Dr. Georg Wiesinger, Project Development Manager at KONOA:
“acoustex is everything you want from a trade fair. The visitors have great technical knowledge. Planners and project developers even come here with specific projects in mind. A specialist planner even came by plane from Turkey to attend the trade fair. The various industry segments at the trade fair benefit from each other.”

Alexander Penzinger, Sales Manager at Sattler Ceno TOP-TEX:
“Our impression on the trade fair is good, everything is very professional here. The audience is well informed. We wanted to meet engineering consultancies that do not yet know our products and we were successful at getting addresses and new contacts. We will come again in 2019.”

Bodo Besselmann, Managing Director at NTi Audio:
“As a measuring equipment manufacturer, we offer equipment that measures sound and reverberation. I had many visitors on our stand. The next visitor came as soon as one has left. There were also many potential future exhibitors at the trade fair.”

Dominik Roster, Business Unit Director of Building & Living at TWE Group:
“acoustex could become a real industry platform for fleece fabrics. We are satisfied with the premiere; the audience matched our target group. We also had good contacts from abroad, for example in the Benelux countries. The trade fair was superbly organised.”

Dana Stegmaier, Business Graduate, Stegmaier GmbH:
“Some talks at the trade fair were really promising, it was worthwhile. We were able to get to know the market better. You usually do not encounter such a visitor variety. We also had feedback on the product.”

Joachim Stumpp, Managing Director of raumPROBE OHG:
“I am positively surprised by the visitor diversity and interest. Many came to solve specific problems at their workplace. I had many talks with national potential customers."

Hans-Jürgen Johannink, Secretary of the DVLV Association:
“We felt very welcome. The trade fair was well organised and equipped. There was a very good response to the lectures. Many topics were discussed further afterwards.”

Reinhard Kohlhauer, Managing Director of Kohlhauer GmbH:
“It would be good if municipal council employees responsible for public procurement visited a trade fair like acoustex to obtain information on the state of the art!”

Stephan Brenner, Managing Director of the Office Competence Centre:
“The trade fair had a large catchment area. We had good talks. The market for soundproofing in offices and call centres has potential. Personnel managers increasingly want modern workplace environments because today’s generation of employees have increasing demands.”

Ralf Vollmer, Managing Director of Vollmer GmbH:
“The response and the quality of the talks at the trade fair were good. Our target groups are architects and acoustic designers. Our objective is to be remembered by them at the right time.”

Britta de Groot, Commercial Head of the Special Gates Division, Marketing Manager at Jansen Holding:
“We had good business talks here – very interesting visitors. I believe that there is a market. We offered industrial sound insulation at acoustex.”

Jörg Wintzer, Managing Director at Human Tec:
“The trade fair went quite well for us; we gained good contacts. We will probably come again in 2019. That would be worthwhile.”
